August 17-19Startup Weekend Summer of Love BBQ
September 21-23Startup Weekend Dev Bootcamp

This weekend, Friday, July 27 through Sunday, July 29, Startup Weekend Bay Area is partnering with Qualcomm Labs for its first “SoLoMo” focused event, which will give Bay Area developers, designers, and entrepreneurs a shot a building a disruptive product or solution in 54 hours!

Fresh on the heels of the Lab’s recently announced Gimbal SDK launch, teams will be encouraged to build on this context awareness platform for Android and iOs. Additionally, devs will have access to the Alljoyn SDK, an open source peer-to-peer platform with a veteran team who will be on premise to train interested teams on the technology.

In typical Startup Weekend fashion, a handful of teams will ideate, build, and pitch a product over one weekend. Judges on deck for the pitch competition are executives from Qualcomm, Peter Marx (@pietromarx), Patrick Eggen, and Mike Sigal (@mikesigal), a Bay Area advisor (500Startups, Stanford/MIT Venture Lab), investor and tech startup veteran.

First prize: All-expense paid trip to Qualcomm Labs in San Diego, where the winning team will meet with Qualcomm execs, QualcommLabs@EvoNexus, and Gimbal and Alljoyn’s cutting-edge team.

Second prize: All-expense paid trip (same as above) for one designated spokesperson from the runner-up.
