And the winner is…

Thanks to Qualcomm Labs for an amazing, inspiring and exhausting weekend packed full of “SoLoMo” innovation. From apps to hardware plays, the eleven (yes eleven!) teams WOWed judges and took away some rad prizes including an all-expense paid trip to Qualcomm HQ in San Diego, where the winning team will receive a paid trip to Qualcomm HQ in San Diego, where they will have an opportunity to meet with Qualcomm and Qualcomm Labs execs, Gimbal & AllJoyn engineering teams, tour the EvoNexus downtown San Diego location and make valuable new connections.  The winning team will be allowed to send up to 5 members of their team to San Diego, and the second place team can elect one team member to go down to San Diego.  This is one of the biggest prizes we’ve ever offered at Startup Weekend Bay Area!

Congrats to winning team Radii, who chose to build on the Gimbal SDK, a Qualcomm Labs product. Radii is a mobile app that recommends places based on people like you.  It is contextually aware to provide you the very best recommendations.

2nd place went to Glotify, a “socially innovative” platform to support NGOs in better handling translation issues, namely in getting documents into a digital format.

Ideogram received an honorable mention. This word association game could have big implications for major brands trying to better understand the psychographics around user buying behavior.

Rounds and rounds of applause for the rest of the teams (Train Train, AirTag, Moda Razzi, Profily,, Talking Home, James, and Alpha Race) and to our panel of esteemed judges who deliberated for quite some time over the winner. You KNOW it’s been a successful weekend when so many teams are up for the grand prize. It wasn’t an easy choice…

Stay tuned for the next Qualcomm Labs event!
